CBEAR meets REECAP
It all started in June 2022, when I met Tongzhe Li at the REECAP meeting in Uppsala, Sweden. Tongzhe, an active member of the CBEAR network in North America, had come across the pond to tell us about the FARE Lab she had just established at the University of Guelph. I was lucky enough to grab one of her FARE Lab t-shirts, which has reminded me of her lab in Canada ever since.
Now, in 2026, I finally took the opportunity to visit her and present potential research ideas that could be implemented at the Innovation Centre for Agricultural System Transformation (IAT) at ZALF, such as auction designs for agri-environmental contracts, for example. I gave a talk on Farmer Behavior in Agri-Environmental Contract Design.
I’m very glad about how things worked out, and I’m looking forward to seeing how future projects in Germany can draw on the experiences gained from auction research in Canada.
